About

We are a team of 15+ men and women who love to ride and race bikes!

Mission Statement:

Vandals Cycling is a non-profit organization created to encourage a healthy lifestyle through increased physical activity. Vandal cycling also has a competitive collegiate cycling program in Northwest Cycling Collegiate Conference (NWCCC) and at the National USA cycling collegiate level. Vandal cycling welcomes all aspects of cycling and aims to decrease our carbon footprint by riding our bikes whenever possible and practical. Within the community we try to lead by example and also do community service.

History of Vandal Cycling:

Vandal Cycling has its roots in the early 1980’s. Nobody is really sure or remembers exactly how it began, but one thing is certain; it was formed by a group of students passionate for the sport of cycling. Vandal Cycling is part of the Sports Club Federation at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. Currently there are a little over 25 registered sport clubs at the University of Idaho.

Vandal Cycling is determined and focused to send a team to Nationals within the next two seasons. In the past the team has had great success at nationals. In 2003 Allison Beall won a women’s national championship. Other notable success has included Alumni Greg Randolph who competed in the 1996 Olympic games alongside Lance Armstrong and George Hincappie on the American Cycling team.

Our goals for the 2008-2009 school year:

1. Increase Membership, especially the number of women members;

2. Start cyclo-cross and mountain bike divisions on our team;

3. Increase participation throughout conference races;

4. Fundraise to pay for and maintain cargo trailer to transport bikes and advertise team and sponsor;

5. Purchase bike maintenance and other equipment for team use.
